Wednesday, June 12th  from 9:30 am until 11:30 am

(Offered free by Team Bev MacLean in collaboration with Tech Coaches)

To support the digital literacy of older adults, we designed a value-packed training and support group called the Technology Booster Club. With the guidance of a professional educator, we help club members master the basics of personal devices and provide a reliable and trustworthy resource for expert advice on technology topics.

Our monthly meetings are designed to create value for everyone, no experience is required. Each club meeting has a specific topic geared towards the preferences and tendencies of members. Club meetings are via Zoom and have a structured yet relaxed format, fostering a community spirit while focusing on the valuable aspects of technology and the safe use of personal devices.

Our technology coaches are not just IT support gurus; they're top-level teachers with 15+ years of experience creating friendly, inclusive, and effective learning environments for adult learners. We help eliminate technology challenges for club members and make learning easy, valuable, and fun.

Our first monthly Club Meeting (online via Zoom) is Wednesday, June 12 from 9:30 am until 11:30 am and the topics covered will be Telephone Scams, Internet Tricks, and Other Digital Hoaxes

Course Overview:
Telephone Scams, Internet Tricks, and Other Digital Hoaxes

Every day, technology users worldwide fall prey to various scams, leading to financial loss, compromised private data, and harm to one's well-being. The most effective defense against digital deception, whether encountered over the phone or online, is to remain vigilant and well-informed. Join us for an interactive Zoom Meeting to learn how to recognize today's prevalent and more obscure tricks and scams. We will explore methods to detect fraudulent phone calls, counterfeit websites, phishing emails, and deceptive text messages to avoid malware and other cyber attacks. We'll also cover strategies for identifying and restoring a "hacked" email account, how to spot fake content generated by AI, and steps to take if you suspect you have been scammed.
